We've Got Some BIG News...

Let me just get this out of the way so I don’t start getting baby blankets and toys as gifts - I’m not pregnant!

But I do have a new baby on the way in the form of a really big project that is going to take a ton of time, a lot of love, a hands-on approach, and a lot of money.

Any guesses?

We are under contract for a house of our very own!

I seriously can’t believe I’m finally typing those words. From 2 broke college students who didn’t have plans of fortune early on, who often borrowed money for groceries, and didn’t have a car that was reliable or trustworthy, we’ve come a LONG way.

If you guys remember, we moved down to Arizona in 2017 with a plan to rent for a year, save money, and eventually buy a house of our own. But life had surprises for us and Keawe’s health took a big hit in 2018 that made that goal all but impossible. Not only were we not prepared for his illness, but there was no way we could ever plan for the fallout from it: the time it would take us to get answers, the long road we have ahead of us, and the crippling debt that came from being self-employed and uninsured. 

Our plans for owning our own home went on the back burner. It’s been such a struggle the past few years to pay the mounting medical bills and to get back on the house path but we’re finally here!

Honestly, it felt at times like we wouldn’t ever get here. And I am not one of those people that looks at a house and knows exactly what I want to do to make it better or make it my own. But after finding an incredible realtor and talking to my friend Savannah, the process of owning and doing DIY on a home isn’t as daunting as I first thought! It’s actually something I’m looking forward to!

I don’t want to reveal too much until we officially close on the house (should happen in early October) but I do need your help! Like I said above, I am not that person who can look at a big empty house and visualize it all done. But I’ve created some Pinterest boards to pin any inspiration I come across that calls my name! 

If you have any home accounts you love, tag me in them! I need all the help I can get. From full room looks to decorations, I want to see what you guys love. I’ll be looking through everything to see if I can’t nail down my personal style and come up with a design and look that feels like home to our family.

Next for us on this house journey? Officially closing! I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself so I won’t tell you anything more now but don’t worry, I’m definitely going to be taking you on this journey with me!

But before I wrap this up, I wanted to say “Thank You”! Thank you for supporting me and my family over the years. Being a small business owner is tough but I’ve felt so much love from this world and my family has benefited from your prayers, your support, and all the love you’ve sent my way. 

I’m so excited to take the next steps and officially call ourselves homeowners!
